Microgarden Pest Control Kit

[Picture of Microgardens PEst Control Kit]

Simplified Hydroponic microgardens have no need for any heribicides to control weeds because the plants are grown in soiless culture.

However, there are many garden pests that will attack the garden if not prevented and controlled.

The Microgarden Pest Control Kit includes basic materials to offer barriers and biological control to defeat garden pests.

Kit Contents:
1. Yellow plastic material 2 square meters 6 ply for making white fly traps. The flies see the yellow and stick to it.
2. 1 quart (liter) of motor oil for smearing on the yellow materials to catch white fly.
3. 1 spray bottle, 1 liter to use for organic sprays to prevent or kill insects.
4. Dr. Bonners peppermint soap to use to spray on and kill soft insects such as aphids and aphid larvae.
5. Garlic extract for use in making a preventive weekly spray for the garden to repeal most pests.
6. Powdered milk for making a milk spray to control powdery mildew.
7. roll of tape audio for stringing around garden to deflect birds.
8. clear plastic quart bags 6 ply to fill with water and hand around garden to confuse insects.
9. Twist ties for the clear bags.
10. Seeds for pyrethreum flower for insect spray from mature plants.
11. CDROM Hydroponics and microfarms for insect and disease control information.

Insect Control

All microgardens will be vulnerable to insect attacks. Even plants growing in the most expensive greenhouses have to actively control insects or they can lose the entire crops. Many microgarden crops have been completed destroyed because insects were able to invade the garden and eat the produce.

The pest control kit includes several methods to prevent insects n the first place and then biological means to control insects once they do invade.

The yellow sticky cards, the clear bags of water and the garlic spray all discourage insects from entering the garden in the first place. If these means are in place, the insect problems should be reduced by 75% or more.

The soap spray and milk sprays are to kill insects and fungus before they spread. Either are effective against small attacks in the beginning.

The pyrethreum flower seeds can be grown in the garden to ward off insects and then dreid flowers can be sprayed on the insects to kill them.

The beneficial herb seeds of basil can be grown around the garden to discourage insects.
