School Contest for Hydroponic Gardens
Lima, Peru

Alfredo Delfin of La Molina University in Lima Peru has started an annual contest for schools.

In the contest, schools compete for the best gardens.

The contest is now in it's third year, and Alfredo is looking for funds to help publicize the contest and reach more schools. In the first year, only ten schools participated, and last year 50 schools participated. Alfredo is looking for funds to expand the school instruction and the contest to 100 schools this year.

Donations are also needed for prizes for the contest.

There is now a local project in Lima where women have a cooperative that produces and delivers 20,000 heads of lettuce each month to local markets. This represents about 20,000 square meters of growing space devoted to simplified hydroponics.
