Senegal Microgardens Project
Dakar, Senegal

Women build small gardens in their back patios.

One of the most successful projects to date is Dakar, Seneagl. This project was originally started by UN FAO and the Minister of Agriculture in Senegal.

From the beginning this project showed a real committment on the part of the government to support women and children.

The project has been important in advancing the technology in Europe, and it has continually grown in its five years of existance.

There are an estimated 5,000 women trained and perhaps 3000 active gardens.
