The Organisation ITDG – South Asia (Intermediate Technology Development Group) is the Asian Regional Office of an International Non Government Organisation. ITDG mission is to demonstrate and advocate the sustainable use of technology to reduce poverty in developing countries. ITDG head office is based in UK with Regional offices in Asia Africa and Latin America.
Main functions and responsibilities
- To develop, plan and direct development programmes for ITDG Sri Lanka and participate in the development of international technology themes through out the Group.
- To lead and manage Programme Manager Energy, Programme Manager Rural transport & Manufacturing, Programme Manager Agro Processing and Project Managers of any new technology projects.
- Develop the country’s strategy/Business Plan for Sri Lanka in agreement with the Regional Director and ensure quality assurance against Group’s strategies.
- Participate in the Sri Lanka Executive Committee (SLEXCO) meetings and in forming policies and strategies for Sri Lanka with technology programme teams and the Policy Director.
- Liase with the ITDG Group internationally, participate in regional and international fora and to contribute to the Group’s international work.
- Deputise for the Regional Director as and when required
- To ensure the quality of project and programme out puts to meet the quality indicators and criteria agreed by the group.

Functions and responsibilities
- Administration and overall management of the organisation.
- Programme planning, budgeting, report writing, project monitoring & evaluation, human resource development.
- Development of micro savings and micro credit schemes for the poor using alternate financial instruments such as revolving credit funds, credit guarantee schemes and guarantee funds. Development and management of linkage banking programmes in partnership with Commercial Banks .
- Fund raising, liaison with donor agencies, government agencies and other national and international non governmental organisations.
- Design and Implementation of Development Programmes in partnership with Community Based Organisations (CBOs)
- Assist in curriculum development and conducting training programmes in the fields of entrepreneurship development & enterprise management, personal development & creativity. Organisation of national and international workshops, seminars and conferences.
- Provide inputs to conduct feasibility studies, action oriented research programmes, impact assessment studies, case studies, management information systems in the area of rural development and documentation of development experiences at grassroots level.
